Posted below are the beginings of our first art project; a reflective piece in color pencil. Included are practice sketches, referance pictures, and my current progress on the piece. The first two are trial works for the bristles on the brushes. It was a rather simple process. All it required was a base layer of the bristle color, layering of lighter and darker shades of that color, and a few added strokes of another color to make it look recently used and dirty, more like how my brushes actually look now that I've used them. The next photo is of my referances pictures, including the brushes I based the first two off, a pencil, the paints, and myself, which will be reflected in the spilled paint and water. The final pictures are of my current progress in the project. The shading on the paint puddles turned out looking very nice looking. It really looks like the paint is thick and runny and meshing with the other colors as well as the water. Not to mention the brushes and pencil look very real. The water was harder to figure out, seeing as how it's clear and not really noticable most of the time. But I discovered that by placing strokes of blue and silver around the outside of the puddle, it looks like ripples or shadows along the edge of the puddle, creating an effective illusion.
